Welcome to BadBeerFest.com

The mission of BadBeer Fest is to celebrate and explore the underbelly of the micro and macros beer culture by tasting a variety of deliberately and hilariously selected beers that normal people would never touch.

In the beer world, ‘normal people’ generally seek either what they describe as ‘typical watered-down American beer’, or what is currently referred to as ‘craft beer’, which consists of ales and lagers having a variety of notes, nuances and profiles that can be presented with a heavy hand or a light touch. But never do they ask their servers or friends to bring them a beer that tastes like what the stuff drunk by the people under the bridge, or for a beer that represents an uncharacteristic complete failure from an otherwise respected and reputable brewer – these are the two opposite yet connected ends of the beer spectrum that BadBeer Fest serves to exploit; it is the exception to the rule.

Rather than a way of life, BadBeer Fest manifests as a good-natured competition amongst peers in an attempt to outdo each other by presenting the weirdest tasting, most depraved offering of the beer world, and collecting both a menial prize and existential satisfaction for presenting the beer voted as ‘the worst’. While the frequency of such a BadBeer Fest is not necessarily defined, it is recommended that it be held no more often than annually, as it has since its inception in 2006.
